Speech Therapy
A certified Speech and Language Pathologist provides speech and swallowing assessments. Recommendations may include speech and hearing services, dysphasia management, cognitive therapy and the use of adaptive equipment to increase communications skills.
Speech-Language Therapy seeks to improve the communication in whatever form best suits the resident. Referrals are also made for swallowing evaluations; the goal of swallowing therapy is to enable residents to eat the highest consistency (and therefore the most enjoyable) diet that can be safely tolerated.
